Veritas Select Premier vs. Endurance Supreme: Which Extended Warranty Offers Better Coverage?

When comparing vehicle service contracts, the most important question isn't how a plan is marketed. It's what the contract actually covers — and what it specifically excludes.

Veritas Select Premier and Endurance Supreme are both exclusionary-style vehicle service contracts. That means they start with broad coverage and then identify components and conditions that are not covered.

Steingold Volvo Cars offers Veritas Select, including Premier coverage for qualifying vehicles. Veritas Premier pays for failures of vehicle parts and components except those specifically listed in its exclusions. Endurance uses a similar structure with Supreme.

After comparing the contracts, there are several areas where Veritas Select Premier has meaningful advantages over Endurance Supreme.

One of the Biggest Differences: The Waiting Period

This is an important distinction that doesn't involve a specific car part at all.

The Veritas Select contract says there is no waiting period unless one is specifically listed on the Application Page. Its terms state that coverage begins immediately, subject to any waiting period shown on the contract.

Endurance works differently.

Its current sample contract defines a waiting period consisting of the number of days and miles shown on the Application Page. It specifically states that coverage doesn't begin until that waiting period expires, and failures that occur or begin during the waiting period aren't eligible.

For a customer purchasing protection for a vehicle they already own, that's a meaningful difference.

Veritas Covers Remote Keyless Entry Components That Endurance Leaves Out

Modern keyless-entry systems are considerably more complicated than an old-fashioned door lock.

The Veritas Select contract specifically identifies the remote keyless entry transmitter and receiver among covered electrical components at the Deluxe level. Premier is the broader exclusionary level above Deluxe.

Endurance's contract takes the opposite approach.

Its electrical coverage specifically says the electronic entry system does not include transmitters and receivers for remote locks. Its High Tech section also specifies that the remote portion of the anti-theft system is excluded.

That's a significant distinction on vehicles that rely heavily on proximity keys, remote locking and electronic access.

Endurance Has More Specific Electronics Exclusions

This is another area where reading the exclusion list matters.

Endurance Supreme specifically excludes:

• Speakers
• Electronic transmitting/receiving devices
• Voice-recognition systems
• Remote-control consoles
• Radar-detection devices

 

Those aren't obscure technologies anymore.

Voice commands, wireless communication hardware, integrated audio systems and electronic access features are standard equipment on many newer luxury vehicles.

Veritas Premier's exclusion list does not separately list speakers, voice-recognition systems or electronic transmitting/receiving devices the way Endurance does.

Veritas Premier also includes Luxury Electronics Coverage up to 100,000 miles, with coverage for components including:

• Navigation display unit
• Navigation control module
• Navigation wiring harness
• Backup cameras
• Side-mirror cameras/sensors
• Phone charger/cradle
• Microphone
• Phone-system speakers
• Phone
• Certain video-system components
• Certain internet-access hardware

 

For a technology-heavy vehicle, that's one of the more important differences between these contracts.

Electronic and Adaptive Suspension Is Worth Looking At Closely

Endurance Supreme covers conventional hydraulic shocks and struts, but its contract specifically says that coverage does not include:

• Air struts/shocks
• MagneRide struts/shocks
• Electronic struts/shocks

 

Veritas also has limitations. Its exclusions specifically remove air springs and air struts from Select coverage.

However, its Select Premier exclusion list does not separately exclude MagneRide or electronic shocks/struts by name, and conventional shock absorbers are expressly not excluded from Premier and Deluxe coverage.

The exact suspension design of the vehicle matters, but this difference is worth reviewing on vehicles equipped with expensive adaptive dampers.

Veritas Offers a Better Rental-Car Benefit

If your vehicle has a covered repair and stays at the repair facility for several days, rental coverage can quickly become important.

Veritas Select

Veritas provides rental reimbursement of up to:

$50 per day for up to five days

Maximum:

$250 per covered occurrence

The number of eligible rental days after the first day is tied to the applicable labor time for the covered repair.

Endurance Supreme

Endurance provides:

$30 per day

with a maximum of:

$150 per covered repair.

For a repair requiring several days in the shop, Veritas provides the larger published rental allowance.

Veritas Gives You More Time to Transfer the Contract

Both contracts allow an eligible remaining service contract to be transferred to a subsequent private owner.

Both also list a $50 transfer fee in their standard terms.

But the deadline differs.

Veritas gives the owner 60 days after the transfer of vehicle ownership to submit the required paperwork.

Endurance requires the Transfer Application within 30 days.

It's a relatively small detail, but Veritas gives the seller twice as much time to complete the transfer process.

Where Endurance Supreme Has an Advantage

There are a couple of areas where Endurance's published benefits are stronger, and they're worth pointing out.

Endurance provides towing coverage up to $150, while Veritas provides 25 miles of dispatched towing and limits self-arranged roadside reimbursement to $50 under the standard contract.

Endurance also offers stronger trip-interruption reimbursement:

Endurance: up to $150 per day for three days, maximum $450.

Veritas: up to $75 per day for three days, maximum $225.

 

So if the comparison were based only on towing or hotel reimbursement during a distant breakdown, Endurance's benefits are higher.

For us, however, those secondary benefits aren't as important as the actual repair coverage you're purchasing the service contract for.

What Does Veritas Select Premier Exclude?

Veritas Premier isn't bumper-to-bumper coverage without limitations.

Among its exclusions are:

• Maintenance items
• Brake pads and linings
• Wiper blades
• Belts and hoses
• Batteries
• Air springs and air struts
• Headlight and taillight assemblies
• Blind-spot sensors
• Heated steering wheels
• Safety restraints and airbags
• Tire-pressure sensors
• Tires and wheels
• Brake rotors and drums
• Body panels and cosmetic items
• Hybrid and EV batteries
• Most exhaust and emissions components

 

That's important because some of these exclusions overlap with Endurance.

The case for Veritas isn't that it covers every component Endurance excludes. It doesn't.

The advantage comes from several specific coverage differences plus the way the contract operates overall.

Veritas Select Premier vs. Endurance Supreme: Which Is Better?

Both are legitimate, comprehensive vehicle service contracts, and they actually share many of the same exclusions.

But when comparing the current contracts themselves, we prefer Veritas Select Premier as the better all-around option for a qualifying vehicle.

The biggest reasons are straightforward.

Endurance requires its waiting period to expire before repair coverage begins. Veritas generally begins coverage immediately unless a waiting period is specifically shown on the contract.

Endurance specifically removes several modern electronic components from Supreme coverage — including speakers, voice-recognition systems, electronic transmitting/receiving devices and remote controls — while Veritas Premier provides broader exclusionary protection and includes a dedicated Luxury Electronics provision.

Veritas also provides up to $250 in rental reimbursement compared with Endurance's $150 maximum for a covered repair.

Endurance has the advantage in towing and trip interruption, but when the primary purpose of the contract is protection against expensive vehicle repairs, Veritas Select Premier offers the more attractive overall package in our comparison.
